31 Days of NaNoPrepMo: Day 19

31-Days-of-NaNoPrepMo-by-Katrina-OstranderDay 19: Will you have any writing buddies?

Writing habits. Writing is a solitary activity, but it doesn’t always have to be. There are many places you can find camaraderie on the author’s road. You might try bringing up NaNoWriMo at work, or hanging a poster in your cube to track writing progress.

The official NaNoWriMo website is a great place to see what’s happening in your local region, but if you live in a rural area or transportation is an issue, there are hundreds if not thousands of forums and mailing lists where you can kibitz around a virtual water cooler. Facebook is growing in popularity in certain regions, and you can always check your local library’s events listing to see if they have any write-ins planned.

Still nothing? Try your hand at organizing a small write-in at your local haunts, preferably those with caffeine!

Action Plan: Add some writing buddies on the NaNoWriMo website or recruit your pals in real life! You can feel free to add me (Lindevi), or check out the buddy-finding threads on the NaNo forums or in online communities! If you’re comfortable (and it doesn’t violate the employee handbook), set up a NaNoWriMo poster around the office, or start to check out the local writing scene in your neighborhood.
