GamerNationCON 4 Debriefing

GamerNationCON 4 Debriefing Last weekend I flew down to Plano, Texas, for GamerNationCON 4, a tight-knit tabletop gaming convention put on by the amazing folks of the d20 Radio network. They’d invited me to the guest of honor and run some of my favorite games, as well as to give a talk on gamemastering and developing roleplaying games. I’m so happy they did, as I had a blast meeting the GamerNation tribe and getting to put some faces to the names of people in the Star Wars RPG fan community. And there were some unforgettable gaming moments to boot! Besides running events of my own, I was also...

Day 24: Canon vs AU vs Homebrew Settings in RPGs

Day 24: Canon vs AU vs Homebrew Settings in RPGs At this point in my GMing career, I’m convinced that basing your role-playing game campaign in a pre-existing setting is just as hard as creating your own from scratch. Beyond the Rim Nominated for a 2013 Golden Geek Award

Beyond the Rim Nominated for a 2013 Golden Geek Award The first project I worked on at Fantasy Flight Games, Beyond the Rim, has been nominated for a 2013 Golden Geek Award for best RPG Supplement. Much of the credit belongs to my co-producer Tim Huckelbery, not to mention the writer, Sterling Hershey, who has worked on many Star Wars roleplaying game products since the WEG d6 days. Congratulations also to the other nominees! It’s an honor to be listed alongside such works as the FATE system toolkit, Odyssey, Tales from Wilderland, and Ultimate...

Looking Ahead to Gen Con

Looking Ahead to Gen Con It’s really only a little more than a month away, and I’m excited to be going to “the best four days in gaming” (for my first time) as part of the Fantasy Flight Games team. Also for the first time, FFG is going to be demoing all of their role-playing game lines for beginners and experts alike. Not only do I get to introduce people to the game line I work on, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, but I also get to GM one of my favorite game systems and settings in general, Warhammer Fantasy 3rd edition. I played one of my all-time most memorable...
